American Art in New Britain: The Evolution of the NBMAA
In conjunction with New Britain’s sesquicentennial year and the recent reopening of the NBMAA’s restored Landers House, the Museum will present a special year-long installation entitled American Art in New Britain: The Evolution of the NBMAA. The installation will comprise historical images and artworks from the permanent collection, that trace the NBMAA’s rich history and unique identity as an American art museum in New Britain.

The Timeline and wall design
The content was to be made into tiles and a mix of photos/artwork and copy. I sketched a couple of layouts for the copy on the walls we are using to see how we can organize the content. One wall contains the title and actual pieces of artwork and one contains the timeline for the history of the NBMAA. We also decided on a panel to introduce the whole exhibition.

the final result
When you first enter the Museum, you step inside this room to view the diversity and history of our Museum as well as understand how the community of New Britain has impacted our growth from the 1800s to today.
The amount of preparation, meetings, and writing included in this piece are all dedicated to the staff at our Museum to find old archives, articles, and organize the content. It came out beautifully printed on metal plates mounted on the wall. The text is vinyl and the panels are mounted foam board.
